CODE OF ETHICS

We require that all members
subscribe to the following Code of Ethics
to promote and foster the highest standards
among our member breeders,
Cockapoo owners,and fanciers,
and to encourage
sportsmanship and cooperation
in the improvement and advancement
of N.A.P.C.B. registered Cockapoos.

Our members must agree
to follow all policy
established for member breeders
by the N.A.P.C.B.

Members agree to encourage responsible pet ownership.

Members must provide excellent care for their dogs,
including but not limited to a high quality food,
an adequate supply of fresh clean water,
adequate shelter, socialization,
daily exercise, regular grooming
and health & veterinary care as needed.

All members must maintain high standards
of health and care for their dogs.

Members agree to obey all applicable
federal, state, and local laws
governing their kennel.

Members agree to obey all applicable
federal, state, and local laws
concerning licensing,
identification, and immunizations.

Members agree to never falsify
any records or documents
concerning the registrations
or pedigrees of their breeding stock.

Members agree to keep
accurate records of all breeding stock,
including registration numbers,
matings, puppies produced,
name and address of new owner
and date of each transfer.

Members agree to properly identify
all dogs registered with this organization
by approved methods - including microchips,
tattoos, or collars with tags.

Members agree to deal honestly and fairly
with the public at all times.

Members agree to deal honestly and fairly
with other N.A.P.C.B. members
at all times.

Members shall avoid unfair competitive practices.

Members must avoid slander
or defamation of competitors.

Members must avoid actions or business practices
which would result in dishonor or distrust
of competitors,
Cockapoos in general,
or the N.A.P.C.B.

Members must be willing
to assist each customer
regarding the
basic characteristics
of a Cockapoo puppy
and offer instruction
regarding the proper way
to care for a Cockapoo puppy.

Members must provide each customer with a
N.A.P.C.B. registration application
at time of transfer.

Members agree to submit
litter registration applicatons
in a timely manner.

Members must offer a written guarantee
stating the extent and limits of your obligations
concerning the puppy
once they leave your facility.

Members agree to never breed any animal
until it is both physically and mentally mature.

Members must refrain from releasing
any puppy until it is at least
seven (7) weeks old, or eight (8) weeks old
if the puppy is to be shipped.

Members must agree that all
advertising of their puppies
will be factual and honest,
both in substance and implication.

Members should avoid
encouraging buyers regarding
the breeding potential of a puppy.

The N.A.P.C.B. believes that
breeding quality Cockapos
involves certain responsibilities
and members are encouraged
not to take it lightly.

Members are encouraged to plan each breeding
with the paramount intention of improving the Cockapoo.

Members agree to refrain
from using animals
for any illegal activity.

Members agree to refrain from
the practice of inbreeding.

Members shall conduct business in such a way
as to only bring honor and respect
to themselves & their kennels
as well as the N.A.P.C.B.

Members will breed only dogs
known to be free of
serious or disqualifying defects.

Members will not breed
monorchids, cryptorchids,
dogs with vicious or shy temperaments,
or dogs with serious defects
or disqualifications.

As responsible breeders, all members
will refrain from using a dog that,
although free from serious or disqualifying defects,
consistently produces afflicted puppies.

Members must show discrimination
in the placement of their puppies
by screening all applicants
and be concerned at all times
with the type of homes
in which their puppies are placed.

Upon the sale of a dog or puppy,
members must provide the buyer
with a properly executed
N.A.P.C.B. Registration Application,
feeding instructions,
an innoculation and parasite control record,
and a written health guarantee.

Members agree to stay well informed
in the field of genetics
and work to eliminate
hereditary defects
from the Cockapoo.

Members agree to not knowingly misrepresent
the characteristics of the Cockapoo
nor mislead any person
regarding the performance
of any dogs and/or puppies
offered for sale.

Members are not permitted to place a puppy
through a broker or a pet store.
To do so will result in termination of membership.

All members are encouraged
to promote spay/neuter
for all puppies placed as pets.

All members are encouraged to
make good use of health testing.

All members must conduct themselves
in a professional manner.

All members must refrain from unnecessary criticism
of other people’s dogs and their breeding practices.

As a matter of ethics, members must pledge
to help educate the general public
as well as to assist the novice breeder.

*Please note that as a potential member
you are required to read the code of ethics.

You must signify that you have done so
by responding with a "yes" on the application.

It is the opinion of the N.A.P.C.B.
that both the Cockapoo,
and the buying public deserves
no less from a breeder
than what is set forth
in our code of ethics.
